screw crawling, i’m just gonna walk

the olivia will be nine months old on valentine’s day. nine months.

she doesn’t roll over. she makes it most of the way, but then she jerks back.

she doesn’t army crawl. i’m pretty sure she believes it’s undignified to slither along the ground like a snake. i’ve come to terms with the fact that she will never do it.

she doesn’t crawl (although she is thisclose to doing it).

she scoots on her butt, however i don’t believe she purposely does it to move from here to there. she becomes excited about something, bouncing up and down and the momentum moves her forward.

she is excellent at going backwards on her belly. again, she’s not doing it on purpose…i can see her wanting the object in front of her, but moving backwards.

she can sit herself up from an on-the-belly position.

when sitting on her butt, she will lean forward and end up on her hands and knees, then plops down onto her belly.

she can also pull herself up onto her knees.

so last night my parent’s graciously hosted the kids and i for dinner. we were all upstairs. my mom was laying in front of the olivia. the olivia grabbed my mom’s fingers AND PULLED HERSELF UP INTO A STANDING POSITION!

i’m not really sure what this means except that she is going to be the type of person who skips steps “b” and goes straight from step “a” to step “c”.

there are books about people who fall flat on their faces attempting that feat my dearest.

just crawl, we can work on walking later.

while at my parents, my mom showed me how to make a foundation piecing quilt square. then she helped me to make my own. thanks mom!

You posted a post as a comment. Clever!
She did scoot a bit on her butt the other night with some “purpose” and not just on accident. Tony did that for a few months–do you remember? He actually developed large calluses on the outsides of his ankles from how much he scooted around. She’ll crawl or perfect the butt scoot. I remember a few times when Tony beat Moira (who was crawling on all fours very well) across the room in his little butt scoot. It works!

it’s a pingback. if an entry is linked to on a blog entry (by yourself or someone else) it does that.
